Home Decorating & Residential Interior Design Process
-
Step 1: Free Phone ConsultationList Item 1
I need to get to know you, your style, and the space you would like to redesign. Schedule a free 15-minute meeting so I can learn about your project.
-
Step 2: In-Depth ConsultationList Item 2
Then we’ll schedule a longer meeting to thoroughly study your redecorating space. We can meet by phone or video conference. You can also email me photos and measurements of your home ahead of time, so I can get a feel for the space. During this virtual visit, I’ll speak with you personally and evaluate your space.
I’ll spend time getting to know your goals for the space.
- How are you going to use it?
- What styles and colors do you like or not like?
- What furniture would you like to keep or replace?
- How do you want the space to feel?
I also ask how much you would like to be part of the decision-making. Do you want me to make most of the decisions and just run them by you for approval? Or do you want to make most of the decisions and just use to me guide those decisions?
One of the most important things I do during this meeting is planning the interior design process. Based on my assessment, I create and organize the entire list of tasks that must be done to meet your goals. You’ll know which step comes first, second, and so on.
-
Step 3: Design PhaseList Item 3
Then I create a detailed plan for you. I research styles and trends that meet your expectations. I also conduct product-sourcing research to find the best items to decorate your space and stay within your budget.
Design Report
I create a Design Report, just for you, including:
- Color pallets and paint selections
- Style and thematic direction
- Ideal furniture placement
- Examples of furniture, curtains, rugs, artwork, and accessories
- Product sourcing and shopping research
Idea Boards (optional)
Your Design Report includes an Idea Board for each room. These interactive documents display images of color pallets, furniture pieces, rugs, artwork, and other accessories. This gives you the ability to visualize the design concept before purchasing the paint and furnishings.
-
Step 4: Shopping PhaseList Item 4
Each Design Report has another amazing feature. It includes a detailed shopping list that shows a photo of each suggested item you should purchase to decorate your home, along with the quantity needed.
You can click on each item to navigate directly to the webpage where you can buy that specific product. So you don’t have to search the world for the perfect couch, lamp, or desk. I do the searching for you. All you have to do is click “add to cart” and checkout! This saves you valuable time, so you can enjoy your space sooner.
Shop Online
The Design Report includes a shopping list of suggested items, but it’s ok if you find a similar product at another store or website. As part of your interior design package, you can include ongoing phone and text message consultations. So if you find a piece you like, you can text me a photo and ask my advice before making the final decision.
Or Shop In Person
Of course, you can do your shopping in person if you prefer. You can also use phone and text message consultations to include me in the process.
-
Step 5: Installation Phase
Now it’s time to put the pieces in place.
You can do the installation work yourself, or you can hire a qualified local professional to install your new furnishings.
- Painting
- Hanging artwork and mirrors
- Installing light fixtures
- Placing furniture
- Decorating and placing the accessories
-
Follow-up Phone & Texting Consultations
You may ask ongoing questions to get my continued expert advice. Before you make a big purchase, you can always ask my opinion.
